The Mayor of Totana, Isabel Maria Sanchez, director of the institute, Jose Manuel Martinez, the program coordinator, Michael, have presented the diplomas and certificates of the fifth class of International Baccalaureate Secondary School "Juan de la Cierva ", consisting of nine students.

This traditional event, which was held in the auditorium of the IES "Juan de la Cierva and Codorniú" has also attended this high school teacher, responsible for corporate sponsors (and Etos CajaMurcia) that make possible together with the City Council that this program is carried out, family and friends of the graduates.

This center was the first in the region of Murcia in providing this high school, which has been joined by the IES Alfonso X the Wise of the capital, which are the ones who teach distance education throughout the region.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a comprehensive training plan with a curriculum of two years proposed by the International Oragnization Baccalaurate, held parallel and together with the two regular high school courses Spanish curriculum.

Students who have completed high school can achieve this double degree as they meet the objectives of the national curriculum, with a better preparation for college access Spanish while acquiring an adequate preparation for the exam proposed by the IBO and get the diploma, which will open the doors of foreign universities.

Totana Mayor congratulated the students who have put much effort and desire to move forward with these studies, because in this way, supports the advancement of society laying the foundation for a Europe of Education that respects the spirit of the training.

In addition, he congratulated the school community by promoting the fifth International Baccalaureate and recalled that through the involvement of all groups, including the City Council spends € 15,000 per year, can carry out this major project, which allows students even deeper knowledge.

He also explained that despite the economic situation with the authorities, their commitment and the City with the International Baccalaureate is firm so it will continue to fund this important project for the students and the community.
