The councilman of Social Care and Education, Josefa Maria Sanchez, presented yesterday, accompanied by the municipal officers, the program of talks and activities of the Municipal School of Parents for the 2011/12 year, which will be held from December to May at the cultural center "Jail" Totana.
This initiative has been held for seven years in the municipality under the municipal program for drug prevention and for the second consecutive year in the program of prevention of truancy, in such a way that has the support of both councils.
The mayor explained that this initiative aims to provide an educational space where families, in addition to expanding their knowledge, to express their concerns and doubts about the difficult task of educating their children.
The talks will be held once every month or so are run by technicians from various municipal departments and other socio-professionals, who are held talks comprising this Municipal School Parents, through a program of lectures and practical workshops.
The program will be made known to all schools in Totana, both children in public schools as schools in Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary, and with the collaboration of the departments of the IES orientation "Prado Mayor" and "Juan de la Cierva" of the town.
This will begin on Tuesday, December 13, with the talk entitled "Playing to be equal. Coeducation" and continue as on Tuesday, January 17, with the conference "Prevention of risks in the home" and Tuesday , February 14, with "Internet safe for our children."
In addition, the program will continue on Tuesday, March 6, with the activity "Motivating interest in reading in our children" and on Tuesday, 27th March, "Teaching to study, teach to learn."
Also, on Tuesday, April 17, will be a conference "Going to college: a new stage, a new challenge" and on Tuesday May 8 "I know if my child is using drugs," while the talk entitled "Plan for improving coexistence and security in schools, "has a date to be determined.
He encouraged parents to participate in scheduled activities and, with your suggestions, help improve the project.
