The Mayor of Totana, Isabel Maria Sanchez, accompanied by the councilman of Emergency and Public Safety, Francisco Hernandez, Lorca and the mayor of the Municipal Service Emergencies, Eduardo Sanchez, yesterday made official recognition to the Civil Defence volunteers, police officers Local Red Cross medical personnel who participated on a voluntary and altruistic in the work of human and logistic support after the May 11 earthquake in Lorca.
The event was held at the Plenary Hall of the Consistory totanero and was also assisted by the coordinator of the 112 Emergency Service Lorca, Ricardo Villalba, the officer of the Local Police of Totana, Alfonso Canales, and the head of the Association of Civil Protection Volunteers of Totana, José Sánchez Pascual, respectively.
City officials congratulated and thanked each of the honorees and the Corps cited their commitment and solidarity with the city of Lorca, in the hours and days immediately following collaborated actively in the work entrusted to them by the Coordination Center Emergency.
The councilor said that the city of Totana municipal infrastructure and offered all kinds of aid to the Consistory Lorca and made available to the mayor the association network working in the field of volunteerism totanero that night to what was needed.
Ruiz Sanchez took advantage of this simple ceremony to thank sincerely each and every one of the solidarity and support to all residents and professional groups, social and neighborhood of the town of Totana that one way or another and have selflessly and anonymously promoted numerous initiatives and have worked with any kind contributions or volunteer work in the sister city of Lorca.
In addition, the mayor appealed to the public "not to forget Lorca, because we must continue to keep alive the flame of solidarity and support to our neighbors and brothers Lorca."
Authorities in Totana and Lorca gave a certificate of recognition to each of the volunteers who worked one way or another during the days following the earthquakes of Lorca.
