Isidoro Cayuela replaces Isidoro Cayuela who has been President for the last 15 years

Antonio Costa Simón, until now Vice President of the Union of Farmers and Cattle Ranchers of Bajo Guadalentín (COAG) was elected on the night of last Thursday, the new President by the General Assembly of this Organization held in the CEBAG Assembly Hall.

Until now President of the Union, Isidoro Cayuela, presided over the last assembly of the Organization that he has led in the last 15 years, although he said that he will continue collaborating with the Organization as substitute of the Board of Directors, when they want to have he.

And, he said, in order to collaborate in resolving some issues that he has not been able to resolve in his mandate, such as the disappearance of Sierra Espuña, the support to an adequate agrarian insurance and an urban planning plan that does not harm the farming.

The assembly also evaluated and approved the 2016 activities report of the Organization, as well as the economic balance of the last financial year, which were presented by the Organization's technical officer.

The assembly also unanimously approved the proposal for candidacy for the partial renewal of the Board of Directors for the next four years, at the same time as it empowered it, to assign the internal functions of the board of directors among the former members and those who now have incorporated.

The new President called on everyone to collaborate to improve the influence of the Organization, while noting that the biggest and first challenge in his mandate was to solve the water problem, because without water there could be no agriculture.

The assembly debated extensively on the problem of the damage of the shrub and rabbits, in the north and south of Totana , at the same time that it knew the conditions that the Ministry of Agriculture has authorized for the burning of waste from pruning and other products, demonstrating by several attendees their disagreement with the reduction of days and hours that the new regulations require.

At the end of the assembly most of the attendees participated in the tasting of some drinks and tapas of products from the area, where they had the opportunity to continue commenting informally on some of the aspects of the problem of the agricultural sector of the Comarca del Bajo Guadalentín (Aledo, Alhama, Mazarrón and Totana).
