The Popular Party is in solidarity with the members of COATO who are demonstrating these days due to the lack of transparency on the part of the Governing Council and its President, José Luis Hernández Costa to their cooperatives.
Hundreds of farmers from the COATO Cooperative have been demanding the President of the COATO Cooperative, José Luis Hernández Costa since July, an explanation for the liquidation of their almonds, which is below what is perceived by other cooperatives in other societies. has been a trigger for the partners to raise their voice and state the circumstances they are going through, denouncing the lack of transparency, opacity and lack of internal democracy of its President and the Governing Council.
Faced with the manifestations of these farmers who have not received an explanation for their problem by the Governing Council and the President, although on 11 August the council itself summoned them to an assembly, and then they were not allowed to have access to the facilities, acquiring the commitment to have an extraordinary Assembly on September 5 that did not take place, the PP totanero demands José Luis Hernández, responsible for having caused this situation, that of the face and explain to the farmers of Totana and other municipalities the situation from the transparency and the honesty that they deserve.
As promised, the partners are concentrated since September 12, waiting for them to be received by the President and providing them solutions, as well as guaranteeing conditions to provide the almond of this year 2017, which if already low to the Market prices partners face the uncertainty of the prices to which they will charge.
The partners-farmers will not abandon the concentration until the President meets with them and gives the explanations demands to the situation they are going through, so from the PP totanero we demand the President to be as soon as possible since these workers are losing part of their working day, besides being day and night at the doors of the installations with the danger that this entails.
There have been many members of this cooperative who have approached the Popular Party to express the lack of transparency and suspicions of non-compliance with the management of the Cooperative with the partners.
They manifest the lack of responsibility on the part of the members of the board when convening the General Assembly of Members on Friday, August 11, in order not to be finally received, besides not fulfilling their word of convening an extraordinary Assembly for last September 5.
From the Popular Party we stand in solidarity with the situation that the cooperativists are experiencing since they are the true architects of the operation of the same and not a direction in which transparency shines through its absence, and it is this transparency that must have the cooperative, as she has always had, keeping the name of the same safe from any doubt that may weigh on the people who run it, especially its President, who from the first minute should have avoided this situation, receiving and giving the partners all the information that they demanded, situation that has generated that the name of this Entity is in mouth of all with the negative consequences that this supposes.
From the Popular Party we miss the defense of these workers from the countryside of Totana and many other municipalities of the Region by the Mayor of Totana, Andrés García, also cooperative of said company and Regional Deputy Alfonso Martinez Baños, as it is of a very important cooperative at both the regional and national level.
