The City of Totana advocates that the Ministry of Education of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia could extend one hour weekly the subject of Physical Education in the sections of Primary and Secondary Education.
This was precisely agreed by the Municipal Corporation, unanimously, last May, whose proposal was forwarded to the regional government.
Similarly, the Ministry was urged to consider the subject of Physical Education as a backbone within the school curriculum.
The institutional initiative included an increase of one hour per week in the number of teaching hours in Physical Education, in order to respond to what is established in the official curricula, in the fourth additional final provision of LOMCE and in Article 6.4 of Royal Decree 1105 /2014.
It was also requested to promote the proper connection between physical education and physical activities outside school, as is done for example, through school sports, enhancing the benefits of sport for health, for comprehensive education and for sociability.
