The Mayor of Totana, Andrés García Cánovas, will ask the central and regional administrations to help renegotiate the terms of the debt of 180 million euros that the Consistory has, so that it can pay the payments in 40 years and not in the 20 agreed with the creditors, so that it can give viability to the city council.
The mayor considers the aid provided by the Ministry of Finance through "management funds" to be insufficient to cover the 120 million euros of financial and commercial debt plus the 60 million euros for contingencies.
In this regard, the councilman has pointed out that one of the difficulties facing the Consistory is to face the refunds that have to be made for the 20 million euros received by several of the 54 urban agreements that were not finally implemented, and that They are waiting for a firm judicial decision.
"If the heart fails, which is the Department of Finance, we block the city council," Garcia pointed out before noting that, nevertheless, they have managed to "regularize" the debt and settle the defaults on the loans requested, predicting that in 2018 Consistory "have some oxygen".
On the other hand, the mayor has asked the Ministry of Finance to pay the 400,000 euros included in the budgets of the Autonomous Community for 2017 to undertake the improvement of the drinking water network of the municipality, which has losses close to 50%.
This item is one third of the 1.2 million euros that the parliamentary groups consensuaron in the Regional Assembly destined to the optimization of the water lines in Totana, that will be broken up into three annuities.
