The Mayor of Totana, Juan José Cánovas, announced today that, starting next week, the attendance service for the public will be resumed for users of the railway station in this town that had been abolished in 2015, giving Thus fulfilling a demand made by the municipal government to Renfe.

The plenary of the City Council of Totana already approved in February of last year a motion of the municipal group Ganar Totana-IU in which Renfe was urged to restore all the services eliminated in order to improve the public transport service in this municipality And increase the number of users of the same.

From next Thursday, the service of the attention to the public will be attended by a RENFE operator in order to inform to the users in general character and to help to extract the tickets to the travelers who need it in the vending machines.

The hours of this service will be, from Monday to Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at closing;

And on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. until the closure of this public infrastructure, according to the first mayor.

Juan José Cánovas argues that this agreement with Renfe is a consequence of the demands made by the City Council about a year ago to improve the service and increase its use by users, after the Totana station will affect the dismantling of services Face of the adjustment measures implemented by the company.

This situation of deterioration of the service already caused in the day the complaints and discomfort to the users of the Cercanías service, whose claim echoed the Municipal Corporation through the aforementioned plenary agreement in February 2016.

This public transport is used by almost 500 people a day in the station of Totana, among them, students who had problems in the renewal of the transport bonds, as well as a large number of elderly people who depended in many occasions on the aid of Other users to purchase their tickets at the vending machines.

The mayor expressed his satisfaction with this decision of Renfe and recalled that there were many annoyances that this reduction of the plan of measures adopted by the company had been causing in such a basic service as is public rail transport.
