The Municipal People propose to the plenary of September by the proximity to Columbus Day to be held by the municipality an act of homage to the flag of Spain.
The popular group, as it has already stated on numerous occasions before the full City Council, believes that in these days of sovereignists challenges, it is necessary to defend the unity of Spain, the constitutional framework, the rule of law and of course our flag because those are the principles that underpin our democracy.
With this motion we intend to be held an act that has been held for years, until last year that the government team decided not celebrate while withdrew the Flag of Spain mast located next to the Temple of Santa Eulalia to again enter the government in June 2015.
Many neighbors we represent, and both these and us, we are proud to be totaneros, Murcia and above all we are proud to be Spanish.
We should not be ashamed of anything or feel self-conscious about being Spanish.
It is not a question of flags but what it symbolizes and represents for Democrats and lovers of the Spanish Constitution of 1978.
The Municipal People last year, after the refusal of the municipal government to hold the event flag and honor the fallen, wanted to keep alive, very simply, this solemn act for what it means and what it entails, so prior to the celebration of Mass del Pilar in which we accompany the State Security Forces, we performed a tribute to our flag and many people who have lost their lives in defense of Spain.
We want to celebrate without fuss but also complex because it is a request of society, for it is celebrated in many towns and cities in Spain and, most importantly, because we have asked many neighbors of Totana and because there are many people who they cover and defend the freedoms and rights that underlies this symbol, the National insignia.
Our flag symbolizes the constitutional Spain, open, tolerant and caring from which all can be proud to be part and that has cost us so much to get here, thanks to the work and effort of several generations of Spaniards.
It is clear that in a civilized, democratic, tolerant and pluralistic society adding we all win.
But there who insists on not respecting the thoughts of others, who strives to eliminate acts that had been held and where the work and the work of service provided by the Forces of State Security and commemorate be thanked our fallen.
These are the reasons why from the popular group brought this motion to the full City Council, with the sole purpose of paying tribute to the flag of all Spaniards for what it symbolizes.
