Totana has welcomed the end of the tenth stage of the Tour of Solidarity to Spain for Rare Diseases, a challenge that are taking place athletes Marcos Bajo and Minerva Gonzalez and they will take to travel in total 3,400 kilometers in mode duathlon.

Representatives of the Spanish Federation for Rare Diseases (ERDF), the Association of Rare Diseases D'Genes and the Spanish Association of Families and Affected Lipodystrophies (AELIP) have today received participants in this Vuelta Solidarity Spain for Rare Diseases .

In fact, the president of FEDER and D'Genes, Juan Carrion, along with members of the Athletic Club Totana, have waited for the two athletes at the entrance of totanero town and have accompanied them running on the last leg of the stage to completion in the Plaza of the Constitution, to symbolically show their support.

Solidarity Vuelta to Spain for Rare Diseases started last April 21 from Madrid and will end on June 18 in Barcelona.

During that period, athletes Marcos Bajo and Minerva Gonzalez, team members "Move for those who can not" going to go in 59 days about 3,400 kilometers, of which 2,200 will make running and another 1,200 by bicycle, passing through all regions of the peninsula.

With the aim of combining sport, overcoming, visibility, solidarity and research, a team led by these athletes has been launched to raise awareness of rare diseases around the country and of course, could not let pass by Totana, which has become a benchmark in the field of low-prevalence diseases, thanks to the work performed by D'Genes and AELIP.

The aim of this challenge, which has the support of ERDF, is to make a tour around the Spanish territory in the form of duathlon, reaching more than 300 villages on foot and in tandem between the months of April and June.

Thus, the initiative will unite all Spanish autonomous communities through several of its capital and serving as speaker to a group totaling more than three million people in our country.

After entering yesterday in the Region of Murcia, around starring these two deportistascon visual impairment and in the case of one of them because of a minor illness, continued today through municipalities like Molina de Segura, Sewer, Librilla and Alhama de Murcia before ending in Totana, where tomorrow will continue.

The goal of this challenge is to raise awareness of rare diseases, encourage practice healthy sport, eliminate social barriers and bring people the reality of relatives and patients with rare diseases, and in turn raise funds for the continuation of the investigation.

Carrion thanked the two athletes who star in this challenge and solidarity that have taken the initiative to contribute to the visibility of the pathologies of low prevalence, and encouraged them to that culminate successfully.
