The government delegate in the Region of Murcia, Antonio Sanchez-Solis Querol, presented yesterday, posthumously, the recognition of the Order of Civil Merit Son of the City of Totana, Antonio Angel Martinez Garrido.

The representative of the Government in the Region granted this award to his widow, Dolores Hernandez, who was also accompanied by his three sons, Agustin Gonzalo, Purification and Salvador in a ceremony held in the hall of the building of Multiple Services delegation of the Government of Murcia.

The same was attended also by the Mayor of Totana, Juan José Canovas, the first deputy mayor, Andrés García Cánovas, and the councilors Ana Canovas and Antonia Camacho, respectively, as well as relatives and representatives of the Local Police and Civil Guard this town, and the pastor of Santiago, Jose Ruiz Garcia.

On February 19, 2015 Totana Town Council awarded him the title of Son of the City of Totana attend in person "outstanding performance and service delivery to their neighbors throughout his career in this municipality."

Martinez Garrido, better known in Totana by "Antonio Union", died last November 18 at the age of 75 years.

The Order of Civil Merit aims to reward the merits of a civil nature acquired by the dependent personnel of any of the Public Administrations within the scope of Law 30/92, or people outside the administration who provide or have provided relevant services the State, with extraordinary works, profitable initiatives or exemplary record in fulfilling their duties.

The Order of Merit Civil, along with the Royal Order of Isabella the Catholic, one of the two currently dependent orders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain;

and it is granted to foreigners who have made merits of Spanish citizens or civil character: relevant services to the State, extraordinary works, among others.
