The Sports Pavilion "Manolo Ibáñez" hosted last Saturday, November 30, the Local School Sports Chess Phase, organized by the Department of Sports, in collaboration with the Totana Chess Club, where a total of 48 schoolchildren from the different centers participated of teaching of the locality, pertaining to the categories alevín and open.
In the juvenile category, the Santiago College was proclaimed champion, while the Reina Sofía and La Cruz schools finished in second and third positions respectively.
As for the individual modality, Domingo Jesús Martínez López (Reina Sofía) was the first classified, followed by Mario Romera Carreño (La Cruz), in second place, and Antonio Tudela Pérez (Santiago), in third place.
As for the Open category, the IES Prado Mayor was the champion team, while the IES Juan de la Cierva finished in second place.
And in the individual modality, first place went to Juan José Andreo Cánovas (IES Prado Mayor), second place to Francisco López Martínez (IES Juan de la Cierva), and third place to Sergio Tudela Acosta (IES Prado Mayor).
The competition concluded with the delivery of trophies and medals to the first three classified, both in the individual and open modality, by the Councilor for Sports of the City of Totana, Agustín Gonzalo Martínez Hernández, and the president of the Totana Chess Club, Pedro Garre .
Finally, note that the two best teams in each category will have the opportunity to participate in the Regional School Sports Chess Final, organized by the General Directorate of Sports of the Region of Murcia, on January 24 and February 14, in Sangonera La Seca.
