Civil Protection Totana requests maximum caution during the next two days

As it has been announced for days, we are at the doors of the beginning of an important episode of rains in the Region of Murcia, possibly the most important for its intensity since September 2012.

Therefore, the red warning for rain and storms has been activated between 06:00 hours on Thursday and 06:00 on Friday.

It can accumulate 70 mm / h (torrential intensity) and 200 mm / 12 hours.

In addition, storms can be accompanied by abundant electrical equipment, hail and strong gusts of wind.

The orange warning will also be activated during the early hours of Thursday and the morning of Friday, and the yellow one during the afternoon on Friday, due to heavy rains and storms or very strong locally.

Notices may be modified as the episode evolves.

At this time there are already scattered showers, occasionally accompanied by storm and hail, and locally strong, as planned.

In addition, the wind is blowing strong in large areas.

But it will be from tonight when the precipitation begins to intensify and generalize.

Thursday and Friday will be the key days, being Thursday night and Friday morning the most unstable moments.

Always within the uncertainty that accompanies these situations, approximately this could be the sequence of the situation:

THURSDAY

During the early morning there will be showers and storms with some persistence, locally very strong, more likely in the north and center of the Region.

During the morning and afternoon there will be temporary improvements alternated with locally torrential showers.

In the last hours, instability will gain ground from the coast and continue the next day.

FRIDAY

From the early hours of the morning there will be showers and storms, more persistent on this occasion, which can be locally torrential, gaining ground from south to north of the Region.

The improvement will be noticed in the morning in the southern part of the Region and then further north, but during the rest of the day, storms can continue to occur locally, although less organized than during the early morning.

SATURDAY

Still inside there can be some showers and storms locally strong, but it will be a situation that will have nothing to do with that of the previous two days.

It should be noted that in many areas the red warning threshold may not be reached and there may be large differences in precipitation between nearby areas, but it is very difficult to specify the exact magnitude and location of the maximum rainfall levels.

If we stick to what the models show us, it seems that the Campo de Cartagena, Mar Menor, and much of the center of the Region will be the most affected areas, but this may vary.

In general it will rain abundantly throughout the Region of Murcia, but it is likely that in some areas there will be problems arising from the rain.

Today more than ever, from Totana Civil Protection we ask for maximum caution during the next two days.
