The “Abraham Project” Association maintains in the urban area of ​​Totana the provision of the collection service on public roads, through the implementation of 19 containers of used clothing, footwear and toys, which are distributed through different parts of the urban area.

The Abraham Project Association is authorized for the management of non-hazardous waste in Murcia by Resolution of the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Territorial Planning of the Autonomous Community of Murcia since 2007 and is part of the Spanish Association of Social and Solidarity Economy Recovery ( AERESS).

Precisely, last year this entity renewed the containers distributed in different parts of the urban area of ​​Totana, coinciding with the modification of its corporate image.

The association has a total of 19 containers for the collection of used clothing, footwear and toys;

so that during 2018 about 60,000 kilograms of clothes were collected that are destined for the regional wardrobe to distribute among the most disadvantaged people and families.

This entity is an intercultural non-profit association that has a clear commitment to society and the environment;

and it has been working with groups at risk or social exclusion in order to promote their social and labor insertion through initiatives that guarantee sustainability and environmental respect.

The selective collection of textile waste, footwear and toys are intended to contribute to the development and improvement of measures in favor of the preservation of the environment.

These become a resource with which to provide shelter in housing, training, employment, development assistance, support and support for groups at risk or social exclusion.

The collection system is based on the placement of metal containers at street level, ecoparks and large surfaces.

The City of Totana signed a collaboration agreement last June with this association that also included training and employment actions for people at risk or vulnerability and social exclusion.

This entity has, among its aims and objectives, to fight against unemployment, social exclusion and any circumstance that undermines the dignity of the person or triggers marginalization processes, as well as promoting the reintegration or social inclusion of people in this situation.

A total of 10 people participated in the “Walk between fabrics” program, itinerary of accompaniment and socio-labor insertion, which has funds from the tax allocation to the X Solidarity box of the income statement that manages the Regional Ministry Family and Equal Opportunities and has also been supported by the Social Services Center of the City of Totana.

Since 1997, Abraham Project develops its social work with groups at risk of social exclusion in the Region of Murcia.

His work focuses on the fight against xenophobia and the labor and social inclusion of immigrants, natives and minors.
