Last Friday, April 5, the students who are part of the Choir and the Music Band of the IES "Juan de la Cierva y Codorníu" of Totana carried out a Concert at the IES "Antonio Hellín" of El Puerto de Mazarrón with reason for their Cultural Week (https://bit.ly/2D1cDoJ).
The performance is part of the activities that the IES "Juan de la Cierva y Codorníu" carries out in its Erasmus + project to encourage choral and instrumental practice among young people and thus promote a healthy alternative for leisure and time free in the students.
The Concert had a first part with diverse works interpreted by the Choir of students and a second part with the Band of Music.
Finally, the Choir and the Music Band performed several pieces together with a great reception among students and teachers at the center.
The Choir of the IES Juan de la Cierva and Codorníu was created in April of the year 2017, giving its first concerts in May of that same year by the different primary schools of Totana where the students of the Choir came from.
Later, in November of that same year he participated in the First Regional Meeting of Choirs "Cantemus" in Caravaca de la Cruz (https://bit.ly/2uPLCjA) with very good reception from the public and in April 2018 in the II Regional Meeting "Cantemus" in Lorca (https://bit.ly/2U1hM5R).
He has recently participated in the III Regional Meeting that took place in March 2019 at the Auditorium Infanta Elena de Ãguilas along with other choirs of the Region (https://bit.ly/2WT2amV) and has collaborated with other musical groups in the "Crazy Festival" for UNHCR that took place last Friday, April 5th.
Currently the choir of the institute has 30 mixed voices with ages between 11 and 15 years and its repertoire consists of arrangements of songs by groups and soloists today with songs to two and three voices of the classical vocal repertoire and some pieces with solo voices
On the other hand, the Band of Music of the institute was founded in April 2018 and is composed of 25 students who play different instruments of woodwind, metal wind and percussion.
He has collaborated with the choir of the institute in the Concert End of Course 2017-18 (https://bit.ly/2I24kgD) and in the Christmas Concert 2018 (https://bit.ly/2UGwFPm) and together they have interpreted repertoire varied and current music arrangements with very good reception among the public.
Thanks to the support of the parents, as well as the support of the faculty and the management team of the center, with its director at the head, Mr. Juan Francisco Otálora Tudela, the students can enjoy the opportunity to be part of both groups and develop This way his talent and artistic capacity in the center, being this an important hallmark of the same.
Since its creation both formations are directed by the music teacher, Jesús Martínez Cánovas.
