The Plenary Council of Totana last night supported the proposal of the councilor of Infrastructure, Víctor Balsas, with the votes in favor of the PP, PSOE, Win Totana-IU and the abstention of the non-attached mayor, to approve the project called "Rehabilitation and paving of Cemetery Road, performed by the Municipal Public Works technical engineer, with a contract execution budget of 35,720.07 euros.
In addition, it was approved to request the inclusion of this as a complementary project to the base plan of the Works and Services Plan 2018/2019 because there are low or replacement in the titular projects and the first complementary work number 121 to the aforementioned project.
The green light was given, with the votes in favor of the PP, PSOE, Ganar Totana-IU and the abstention of the non-attached mayor, to the Mayor's proposal to appoint the mayor, Andrés García, and former councilor Josefina Gálvez as representatives of the Totana City Council in the new Local Committee of the Spanish Red Cross in this municipality, given the request presented by the new president of the Local Committee, Pedro Abellaneda Moya.
The Plenary unanimously approved the joint motion of the groups to support the different activities proposed for this month coinciding with the commemoration of March 8, International Women's Day, facilitating with all material, personal and diffusion means of the different activities and events that are convened.
All the municipal groups voted in favor of all the points of the motion, with the exception of the non-attached mayor who did it against placing a feminist banner on the balcony of the City Council.
In this way, the proposal advocates articulating, in practice, global policies with sufficient economic endowment, public management, with statistics and evaluations, that change the material reality of women, in the interests of real equality.
Similarly, it is intended to facilitate with all material, personal and dissemination means the demonstrations, rallies, activities and events convened by women's associations on March 8;
as well as placing a feminist banner on the balcony of the City Hall -which had the approval of all the municipal groups except the not attached mayor;
who opposed.
The motion also included the participation of the students of the Totana educational centers of the activities proposed by the Municipal Equality Council, while at the same time collecting the ones that the centers themselves will carry out, in order to make visible the importance of equality for a fairer society.
The councilors approved, with the votes in favor of the PP, PSOE, Win Totana-IU and the abstention of the not attached mayor, the first point of the motion of the PP, which was completed and improved with one to the entire PSOE, so that The City Council will adhere to the celebrations held by the Central Union of Irrigators of the Tajo-Segura (SCRATS) in commemoration of the 40th Anniversary of the Transfer.
In addition, the amendment to the entire PSOE, which was supported, expressed unconditional institutional support for the maintenance and continuity of the Tajo-Segura Transfer for its contribution to the economic development and welfare of the Region and the provinces of Alicante and Almeria.
In the same way, the socialist amendment, and therefore the agreement, recognizes and appreciates the work done during these 40 years by the SCRTAS to guarantee its continuity and for its contribution to the regional and provincial progress and development;
as well as carrying out a dissemination campaign, between June and September 2019, to support the continuity of this infrastructure with the slogan "Yes to the Tajo-Segura Transfer".
The Plenary agreed to the motion of Ganar Totana-IU, unanimously, to urge the Government of the Nation to take urgent action against advertising games and online betting houses on radio and television media;
as well as to urge the Government of the Nation, through the Ministry of Justice for the study and development of a series of legislative measures related to the advertising of the gaming sector, following the line of other European countries such as Belgium.
The Municipal Corporation approved, with the votes in favor of the PP, PSOE and Ganar Totana-IU and against the non-attached mayor, the motion of Ganar Totana-IU to initiate the file that allows recognition of the important environmental work of Ricardo Codorníu, giving his name to some square, street or significant building of our town.
Finally, the motion of Ganar Totana-IU was approved unanimously to express the institutional rejection of the measure approved in 2016 in the European Parliament for the reduction of tariffs and the extension until the end of November for the importation of citrus fruits from South Africa to the EU, because it has been revealed the serious damage that this entails to Spanish producers, leaving them in a clear situation of disadvantage before which they can not compete.
