The Plenary Session of the Totana City Council last night unanimously approved the joint motion to urge the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to create regulations for the International Baccalaureate in consensus with all sectors of the educational community of the centers to which Affects him.

The International Baccalaureate Diploma program is an educational program, whose objective is to train students who achieve an excellent breadth and depth in their knowledge while growing physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically.

It is a program that is only implemented in 23 public centers throughout Spain, and of these 2 are in the Region of Murcia: one in Totana, in the IES "Juan de la Cierva and Codorniú", and another in Murcia, in the IES "Alfonso X the Wise".

The implementation of this program in the "IES Juan de la Cierva" was a pioneer and encouraged the implementation of this in the other center, but despite the fact that this baccalaureate was implemented for the first time in the 2005/2006 course by order of 6 October 2005, of the Ministry of Education and Culture, authorizing it on an experimental basis, to the IES «Juan de la Cierva y Codorniú», of Totana, to impart the teachings leading to the obtaining of the Diploma of "International Baccalaureate".

As of the school year 2005/2006, this "Bachillerato" continues to maintain the experimental character after being 13 years implanted in the Region of Murcia.

Other motions municipal groups

In addition, a green light was given, unanimously, to the motion of the PP for the City Council to urge the Government of the Nation to develop a national awareness campaign in the media, to achieve the real inclusion of children with some type of disability, with the purpose of achieving the visibility of them, as well as achieving real inclusion.

In the motion of the Popular Group it was included that this awareness campaign is also aimed at combating the small daily non-solidarity towards children with any type of disability;

and adapt this campaign and take it to schools.

Similarly, unanimously agreed to the motion of the PSOE to urge the Governing Council of the Region of Murcia, to perform various actions as a matter of urgency in schools in the municipality of Totana.

In this case, the motion of the Socialist Group included expanding the electric power in CEIP de Lébor, CEIP Tierno Galván and CEIB Guadalentín;

proceed with the removal of the asbestos cover at the IES Prado Mayor and CEIB Guadalentín;

install the elements of protection against sun exposure and air conditioning in the CEIP Santa Eulalia (roof) and CEIP Santiago (roof);

and cover the sports courts of CEIP Santiago and CEIP Tierno Galván.

The corporations approved, unanimously, the PSOE motion to urge the parliamentary groups in the Regional Assembly of Murcia to support the Proposed Law of Regulation, Universal Implementation and Progressive Public Financing of the First Cycle of Early Childhood Education in the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, presented by the Socialist Parliamentary Group.

Likewise, it was agreed, with the votes in favor of the PSOE and Ganar Totana-IU and against the PP and the non-attached mayor, the socialist motion to suppress article 74 of the draft of the Law of Integral Protection of the Family of the Region of Murcia, because it is harmful to the dignity of Murcian women;

and ensure from the public health system the correct and full attention to women who freely decide to voluntarily interrupt the pregnancy.

A green light was also given, unanimously, to the motion of Ganar Totana-IU to demand that the regional government proceed to the immediate development and implementation of Law 7/2018 of July 3, of Couples of Fact of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.

Finally, several motions were approved by the councilor of Finance, Ana María Cánovas, unanimously, on extrajudicial recognition of credits, cancellation and rectification of accounting balances in the municipal accounting of closed years and expenses and income returns, as well as cancellation of recognized rights of closed exercises, in each case.
