The Reception Unit of the Municipal Social Services Center, a key and strategic service from which most of the professional activity that this service offers to all residents of Totana, has made a total of 7,471 attentions during the first semester.

The different programs and services of the Center offer professional and personalized attention depending on the characteristics of each person or family unit.

First, the technicians value the initial demand to subsequently specify the service from the service in the most appropriate and personalized way.

Thus, from the attention in reception and administration is derived to social work units, orientation to immigrants in foreigners procedures, legal advice, psychological support, guidance and support to drug addicts and their families, location and monitoring of people with sentences of work for the benefit of the community, accompaniment for social inclusion and work with families whose children are in a situation of special difficulty.

Among the groups that have requested the services of the Center, the sector that has demanded the most attention has been family and childhood with 44%, which is followed by that of older people that has represented 22%, adding between both the two thirds of the demand attended.

Likewise, the actions of the sector of people with disabilities have occupied a high volume with 13%, as well as that of the foreign population in specific matters of their immigrant status, amounting to approximately 8% of the attention.

In smaller percentages, there have been other sectors of the population in need that have also received social attention, such as women, ethnic minorities, youth, drug addicts, prisoners and ex-prisoners, mental patients, migrants and passers-by, among others. .

Similarly, the activity of the Social Services Center is co-financed, in addition to by the City Council itself, by the Ministry of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare, and by the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
