The technology fair has an aerodrome for drones and workshops on computers, telecommunications or the safe use of the Internet

The annual forum of the Information Society Region of Murcia (Sicarm) began yesterday a new edition, the eighteenth, which will be present in the municipalities of Abarán, San Javier and Totana to show the latest advances in new technologies, computing and telecommunications through nine workshops, one more than the previous year.

Among the novelties presented in this event, the technology fair has an airfield for drones, virtual reality and augmented reality stands, 3D printing and robotics.

This is joined by educational activities on the safe and responsible use of the Internet and dissemination of the natural and cultural heritage of the Region of Murcia.

The mayor, Andrés García, and the councilor for Culture, Eulalia Moreno, were present yesterday morning in Abarán at the presentation of the fair, which was attended by the Minister of Finance, Fernando de la Cierva, and the mayors of San Javier and Abarán, which will also host the event of a regional nature, and which has had the invaluable collaboration of the departments of New Technologies and Education of the totanero Consistory.

Subsequently, both municipal officials presented this fair to be held in Totana from May 31 to June 3, in the sports pavilion of the "Reina Sofia" School, whose educational community thanked their collaboration and involvement to host this event.

The main novelty of this edition is that visitors will be able to create last generation drones, program them and fly them on a circuit.

They will also be able to discover the heritage of the Region through virtual reality with the last immersive game developed by the Integra Foundation on the Roman Theater of Cartagena.

Other workshops will show how state-of-the-art robots are built and programmed, and show the latest augmented reality devices and their application to the world of education.

In addition, workshops will be held on the safe and responsible use of ICT, audiovisual techniques and 3D printing.

Sicarm 2018 can be visited at the IES Villa de Abarán from yesterday until Sunday May 27, in Totana from May 31 to June 3 and in San Javier from June 14 to 17.

All the activities are free and the workshops will be open in the morning for visits to educational centers and in the afternoon for the general public.

The complete visit to all activities lasts approximately two hours and attendees can participate in raffles and competitions: two drones, a virtual reality glasses with remote control, an external battery for mobile and personalized medals of Sicarm.

The conferences have been held since 2001 in itinerant locations in towns of less than 30,000 inhabitants to promote digital literacy and contribute to the effective incorporation of the Region into the information society.

With Abarán, San Javier and Totana there are already 30 municipalities that have participated in these 18 editions.
