The mayor, Andrés García, has announced that the totanero Consistory will go to the Courts of Justice to denounce the modification of the layout of the AVE proposed by Adif, following the unanimous mandate of the plenary;

and will interpose a resource of revision of the same one to try to create the minor environmental and urbanistic impact, as well as the minimum social damage to the affected neighbors, putting before the general interest of the municipality.

The aspirations of the City of Totana and the neighbors affected by the layout of the high-speed line in this municipality yesterday received the rejection by the Railway Infrastructure Administrator (Adif), which refused to address the claims to paralyze the project and resume the proposed layout in 2010, which affects a smaller number of owners.

The councilor of Totana and the spokesman of the citizen platform of affected Totana-Fuerza Ciudadana AVE, José María Hervás, have explained, in a press conference, the conclusions of this meeting at the Adif headquarters in Madrid, as well as the joint actions social and judicial measures that are planned to be carried out in the coming weeks.

The Totana delegation, made up of members of the Municipal Corporation and representatives of the AVE Totana-Fuerza Ciudadana AVE and the Catenaria Line platforms against the route of the AVE as it passes through this municipality, met, for more than an hour and a half, with executives of this entity of the Ministry of Development.

The meeting with the president of Adif was held in order to demand a change in the layout of the AVE upon arrival in Totana, and to transfer the plenary agreements approved in the last sessions, unanimously, by the Totanera Municipal Corporation.

During the appearance today, both added that "we are not going to be cooperators" of a situation that seriously harms the general interest of the municipality of Totana;

and stressed that, from now on, technical and legal reports will be studied in detail in order to find "procedural failures" that allow for alternatives to this new route.

"They have flatly refused to return to the previous route," said the mayor, who has denounced, "the insensitivity" of Adif to set up a joint working table to find an "intermediate" layout that does not harm the municipality;

and he added that Adif "is only interested in terms, budgets, times and comfort".

Andrés García has assured that he was transferred to the president of Adif, Juan Bravo, the mandate of the plenary session and the restlessness that is lived in the municipality, the most affected by the expropriations for the construction of the platform of the high-speed line in the stretch between Sangonera and Lorca.

According to ADIF, in a technical meeting held in September 2017 the totanero City Council did not show its opposition to the project, although, in this regard, the mayor said that "at that meeting there was no change in the agreed path on which he had been working since 2010 ", reiterating that" they have deceived us and they have come through the back door ".

García Cánovas has stated that in Totana "we are open to negotiation" and also regretted that the railroad manager refuses to create a work table, as suggested yesterday, in which an alternative solution to the impact of the layout is sought current line.

For its part, the spokesman of the citizen platform has shown his satisfaction because of the meeting we got a "more optimistic than pessimistic" before "the obscurantism and misinformation" of Adif that, in his opinion, showed "signs of weakness and doubts , appearing strong. "

In addition, he highlighted the public firmness of the people of Totana for being "pioneers of an unprecedented political and institutional consensus", and has advocated that citizens "be up to the mark as a symbol of solidarity and social cohesion."

The meeting yesterday in Madrid was attended by the mayor, Andrés García, the first deputy mayor, Juan José Cánovas, the town planning councilor, Carlos Ballester, a representative of each of the political groups (Agustín Gonzalo Martínez, María José Bedia and Juan Carlos Carrillo) and municipal technicians, as well as a representation of the neighbors affected by the new project of this infrastructure.

A total of 1,255 farms and plots will be expropriated in the five municipalities affected by the Mediterranean Corridor from Sangonera to Lorca, of which only 104 are municipal property.

By municipalities, Totana is the term that contributes the most: above half a million meters, which correspond to 394 farms.

In addition to these lands, others will be occupied - of smaller extension and of temporary form - to execute the works, as well as the rights of way.
